224 pontius

So it's 90 degrees here, and no one has air conditioning. no one in the whole city!!
So what do we do??

WE GO TO THE BEACH!! :)

played with suzi

lil rag a muffin :)

So i mentioned i moved...

This is my apartment building:

and this also lives there as well....

it's the new roomates cat, so that has been an adjustment. I am def not a cat person. and if i didn't know that before, i for sure know it now!

But it's been fun living downtown! I can walk everywhere, and am close to everything!

Internship is almost over yayyy one more week! I got to shadow someone in the sales department and have decided i could never do that... I am not competitive enough to fight for clients and would be to stressed to live off commission...It was cool tho i got to sit in on a pitch meeting and make a proposal for the station!
This week I shadow one of the DJ's... should be interesting!! I'll have to let u know...

So everyone keeps asking me why I love Seattle so much, and why I moved here for the summer, so i decided to make a list of all the things i love about it!!!

number one... hanging out with this lil one :)

*the skyline:

*All things green! (not the enviromental freaks, the actual landscape)

*the amazing thai/ sea food!

*organic.everything.allthetime. you cant eat unhealthy if u try.

*the music! 107.7 the end is the best.

*all the ART!! everywhere you go.

*there a ton of beautiful trails and paths throughout the city and down by the water where you can go running/walking or ride bikes.

*the weather! I don't mind the rain, plus Seattle is one of the driest places in the US during the summer. hasn't rained one time while i've been here!

*All the different neighborhoods. seattle is made up of several smaller parts, each different in their own way, all a part of seattle. My favorites so so far have been madison park, wallingford and the u district.

*Pikes Place Market! what a fun place!! I have written on here about it once before, but its the famous place where they throw the fish (real world-1998).

*Nirvana, alice in chains, death cab for cutie, pearl jam, dave mathews, heart, modest mouse, the gossip, kenny g... need i say more?

ok...10 things i hate about you, an officer and a gentlemen, greys anatomy, fraiser, saving silverman, sleepless in seattle, kyle XY, icarly...

i'll stop there :)

...hmmm i will add more later! Love you all :)

Joe and Heather's wedding

yayy! it finally came! the wedding was on July 11th in Grants Pass, Oregon. I have so many pictures for you guys, I tried to narrow them down!!

ok, so the weekend started off very fun! i rode down to grants pass from Seattle with Joe and his best friend Kevin and his gf Shelby. we got there late Thursday night and got everyone to their hotels and then heather and i went back to my grandparents and spent the night there. We woke up early the next morning to all the craziness that comes with putting on a wedding. After pretending i was asleep and couldn't hear people asking me to do things stopped working, i woke up and asked how i could help. Unfortunately the only pressing matters at the time were "a new bee hive" and an "unexpected mole hole" In the backyard. I guess that's what u get for getting married in your grandparents back yard. As a solution my grandpa one minus a hearing aid suggested that Heather "wonder off now down the road that way a couple houses down and go see the bee lady, she'll know what to do!" And as concise as his direction were, Heather decided to hand the job off to uncle Steve, who not only couldn't find a solution, but got stung 3 times during his visit to "the bee lady"... well, somehow Heather and I escaped from the house and went to a lovely brunch with Joe's sisters and some friends. But then we had to return to the craziness and get ready for the rehearsal/ rehearsal dinner! The dinner was at an outdoor restaurant called "R HAUS" right on the Rouge River.

it was very pretty!!

it was fun seeing all of the family! and the dinner was great! dad and Joe's dad gave speeches and we were all in tears!! So sweet... but honestly, we all couldn't wait to get to.. The Laughing Clam! A local bar that my grandpa Don and his brother Cec co own. That's where we had the After Party! We got there and Lizard Mafia (cover band with questionable members) was playing and everyone was having fun!

The fun stopped for Joe tho when the lead singer took it upon herself to finesse the crowd... and by that i mean she gave Joe a lap dance. In front of God and his parents.

(joe's dad is the one on the left in red, laughing..)

Later after things had died down and only the truly committed were left at the bar, uncle Steve came through in the clutch and bought everyone (15 people!!) shots of patron!!
here is a picture of us all about to take ours..

(that's uncle steve on the right)

after the shots were consumed and we were all hanging out around the bar, we noticed something in the corner of the bar. Someone (not with our party) had ordered a burger, and whilst the bar tender was about to deliver it to whoever it belonged to, he must have gotten distracted, and set it down on the edge of the bar. Well, it sat there for a good 5 minutes. Just long enough for one cousin to dare another cousin to take a bite out of it, and she did! Not long after that Maria got either rebellious, or hungry I'm not sure which, and one upped my cousin by exiting The Clam with the rest of the burger. It was such a fun night!

Heather and I stayed the night in an AMAZING room at the.. get ready... Weasku Inn. wait, say it out loud...again....one more time.. get it??? I love grants pass :) We fell asleep right when we got home and woke up the next morning to start getting ready! Eileen and Angie came over and hung out, Jen came and did our make up!! After we got ready we headed to the house to meet the parents... this is how we found them:

This was my dad hours before the wedding...

but we eventually got it together..

Everyone looked fabulous! After running around like chickens with our heads cut off we gathered ourselves and got all lined up to head out to the back yard and start the ceremony!! Ben and cousin Eric did the music, Ben played yellow rose of Texas on his violin before it started and Eric played the background piano music beautifully!

first came the flower girl, and the ring bearer! Kaitlyn and Ryan are Joe's niece and nephew.

She was so cute! She bumped almost the entire basket out before she even hit the isle, then ran down the isle! it was adorable.

then it was my turn :) I didn't even cry I was so proud of myself!

Then came the Big entrance... Heather and my dad :) They decided to come down the staircase, just like my mom and grandpa did 32 years earlier :)

This is my favorite picture taken! It captures me, my sister, and my mom during the ceremony!

During the vows:

She looked perfect :)

Just as he announced them as husband and wife, cousin Nate set off fireworks!!
you can kind of see the end of them in this picture of Ben walking me back down the isle:

After that we all ate an amazing salmon and steak dinner, it was so good! and fun to see everyone all together! i gave my speech and made it through 3/4 of it before I lost it and had to just say "love u!" and sit down before it got awkward. We finished eating and they cut the cake! the BEAUTIFUL cake, made by Maria herself!!

it was beautiful!! She did an perfect job!!

Then we all hung out around the house, set off more fireworks, took tons of family photos, I tried to play some fun music and start the dancing but few participated... it was a very fun reception tho!!

And this is how Heather ended her night:

...and this is how I ended mine:

dancing with the makeup artist :) my new roommate Jen!

Some called it a wedding, some called it the start of a new life, I called it the family talent show, but either way it went amazingly and I cannot believe it's over!! So much planning and anticipation, and now its done! and I have an amazing new brother in law, and a sister with a new last name!! yayy :) for their honeymoon they went to San Fran for 3 days, and now they're in nappa valley! They come back Sunday.

As for me I am now living in Heather's old apartment with Jen! I love it! its just north of downtown in capitol hill! I will have to post pics of the apartment! AND SOON!!! because I officially only have two and a half weeks left in this amazing city!! I have totally fallen in love with this place and I hate to ever leave!! The internship is still going steady, nothing very exciting, it wasn't exactly what i thought it would be but I still learned a lot!.. well some.. haha! I love the people i work with and i finally have the whole bus thing down.. finally! I am excited to spend my last few weeks here and live it up!! I miss it already.. if that's possible!! perhaps because I know i am going back to RUSH.. my least favorite activity in life, but I do miss everyone! I hope you guys are still enjoying the blog!! I'll write more soon!

only one month left :(

It's been a long time, my apologies!

So I had my first event for movin925, it was a park party in Everett, sort of a thank you to all our listeners. On fathers day (hey dad! hope u like ur new ipod :)!) We had free Qdoba, HonestTea, two bounce houses, Mayham the DJ came and "spun" (?) here is our crew! :

i also ended up making some new friends, which is always good in a new city.

(you can't see it in this picture, but he actually has a peace sign tattooed on his tongue.. cute!)
WHICH REMINDS me... i saw this bumper sticker the other day and AM IN LOVE!!
how comforting it was to find this in SEATTLE! :)

Anyways!! back to the park party.....
Look who i met!! MOVE OVER Taylor Swift!!!
(<T Pain!!)

All in all, it was very fun and VERY entertaining. Also i was the only ginger there who didn't burn!! thanks to my mom and her craze over sunscreen! which i now have inherited...

The next week at work i discovered something i had to share with all of you...
Next time you get hungry, or need an inspiring
educational message from either Bow wow (no longer lil') yung joc, or master P, satisfy your need with RAP SNACKS!! click here for more info...

I had the pleasure of trying the Honey Dew flavored Cheese Curls (yes, they are as disgusting as they sound, but yung joc's message of "reading is fundamental" was worth every bite!)

So This weekend i got to help heather with another wedding!! it was so gorgeous!

It was only 40 people, small family wedding. pretty
easy! and we got a BIG tip! yayyy for having food $$ !!

One family friend we were looking for, and couldn't find, but then we realized she had been there all along, but due to her 7 plastic surgeries in the past year we did not recognize her. Later we were able to recognize her as being the one with the never ending glass of champagne. When i looked over at the end of the night to see her legs up in the air due to her having fallen out of her chair and almost taking her 6 year old daughter with her, without spilling any champagne (thank god), i decided that she was for sure one of my all time fav. guests. Of life
that is, not just weddings.

The next day we were going to go to Mars Hill Church, but instead I had to attend the equally as convicting, Seattle Gay Pride Parade & Festival for the station. I'm not sure what i was expecting, Lots of crazy people obviously, like this:

and even this....

but there were also a lot of seemingly normal ones as well...a lot of people's gender and sexual orientation were about as clear as tracey chapman's, while others we knew right away. Whether we wanted to or not. It was an experience none the less, something i would have NEVER done otherwise!!

So that's everything that has been going on here so far...
oh and, my music pick for the week is: wal.e!! love him. not more than t pain tho :)
here's a few u can click on:
Nike Boots
and
D.A.N.C.E

I would ALSO like to give a little shout out to the WEST FORK TIGERS SUMMER LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM!! Zach's team won the championship and ended the season 19-2!!!! yayyyy!!

ok love you all, and am missing Texas but i gotta say i love it here!!! :) gnight!!!

week two-still loving it!

so i promised pictures...

This is where I'm staying! isn't it cute??

my conversation with gwen this morning:

Me: "Aunt gwen, there's a racoon the size of a golden retriever outside on your front porch."
Aunt gwen: "oh yes, he's a local here in the neighborhood, always getting into people's compost piles"
Me: "well why don't you just shoot him?"
Aunt Gwen: "Because this isn't texas, and I could get arrested."

Corie had to leave, very sad!! But it was so fun!! She is such a joy to be around!!

This has probably been the best part of the trip so far, walked into Athentian Inn bar in pikes place market and found this!

"Tira misu. You'll find out what that is."

Saturday I helped heather with a wedding in Tacoma at on old mansion:

Beautiful ceremony!! the brides family was indian, so at the reception they played the slumdog millionaire soundtrack and did the finale dance!!! it was incredible. I helped heather direct everyone and setup/break down. But the best part came after the wedding, when the night concluded with heather and I having to drive two drunk grooms men, their girlfriends (one couple was actually married, thanks to an elvis chapel in vegas), and an astrained family friend in his army uniform back to the hotel from the mansion. One broken box of wine and a debate over who can pee longer (between the 2 classy girlfriends) later, we got everyone safely back to the hotel. Only to have the bride and groom moon us from their room on the 7th floor when we pulled up.

Last night heather and I went to Mars Hill church in Ballard, It was about herichies, very good! but VERY long.. as in, an hour and half. He is SO BLUNT it's incredible! After living here and seeing how everyone thinks and belives, I am shocked that anyone goes to his church at ALL. I think it's a true testament to the fact that everyone craves pure truth to some degree. It's amazing the impact mars hill is having on the city, i can't wait to keep going!

I had my orientation for my internship today and got to meet the other interns, all very nice! one other girl, and three guys, one gay..i think.. well im not sure about him. i need to work on my gay-dar. Right now i just asume everyone is, and then go from there. We will be attending one event a week, i can't wait to write about it!!

While being in Seattle, I have some what gotten back in touch with my emo roots. At least, musically anyway! yall have to check out this song! it's called
Sometime around midnight

i am also LOVING Disney's "Up" soundtrack! this is the best one, listen to it! it's called
Married Life

Hope you like them :) Hope your enjoying the blog! I will post more later!! Sending my love to everyone at the getaway & CSU!!! Wish I was with you all!!
Oh! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE!!!! very sad i am missing it :(
Much Love!

First Day!

Hi everyone!! I am currently living and interning in seattle, WA!! I'm working at Movin 92.5 for the summer in the broadcasting and promotions departments! (no, i will not be on the radio :( but i will be writting some for the DJ's!!) they play top 40 with a little bit of old school mixed in!

I am currently living with Aunt Gwen, (Maggie if i ever had a character for you to add to ur some-day book, she would be it!!) she is 55 and single, and every bit accentric as your probably picturing her to be. She has been "planning on" painting all the walls in her house and has not decided upon a color yet, thus each wall is covered in strokes of paint that are all different pastel blue/yellow/white/green colors. She wanted to try each one before she decided on one. 25 YEARS LATER each stroke remains.. and a decision does not seem to be on the horizon...it is like living in an easter sunday fun house.
here is a sample from one of the walls in her house:

I had my first day of work today!! Heather dropped me off and I got right to work packaging up left over race for the cure t shirts. Obviously i stole one. oops. I also entered a bunch of info into an excel sheet... never done that before... had to remember how to work excel from the brief tutorial sydney gave me a month ago... hey, at least they didnt ask me to make coffee, i would have been even more unsuccessful.... wow, why did they hire me? miracle.

The weather is amazing, not one drop of rain in 3 weeks!!! HA!! drier than fayetteville what do you know?? Our good family friend and fellow staff-kid corie klein is here visiting heather!! It has been so much fun, I will post pictures soon! Her and heather played in a old-peoples inturmural kick- ball game tonight, and luckily i did not have to play.. instead i stayed on the sidelines and befriended charlie (one of the local bums, who enjoyed being the announcer for the game from Wrigley Field, where he actually thought we were, he even gave us the full weather report from chicago, IL... thanks chuck.)

No work tomorrow!! I will post more pictures! I love and miss everyone so much, and i love you even more if you are reading this!!!
